    Biography in Brief

Dr Jian Li, IEEE Member, is currently an Associate Professor with School of Electric and Electronic Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He joined HUST in January, 2013 and has been working there ever since. He has been working on the design of novel electric machines,drives and control strategies for a long term. As one principal investigator, Dr Li has hosted and participated in the development of several projects such as large-power high power density Axial Flux Direct-Driven generator for wind turbines, gas turbine high-speed generators, permanent magnet synchronous traction machine for EV&HEV, and rail transportation. His achievements have been successfully extended to products in companies like Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Motor, WILO Pump, etc. He has got theoretical achievements and practical experiences in machine design, power converter and advanced control strategies. Up till now, Dr Li has five Chinese patents in pending and published more than 40 papers on international journals and conferences (18 SCI papers, 11 SCI papers with first & corresponding authorship). Currently, as the principle investigator, he is undertaking one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) (ECR Program) and participating one NSFC (Key Program) and one National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program). The project titled “Electric vehicle drive system”, which he was involved in, has won the “2013 China IUR cooperative innovation achievement award”.
