Lectures on “Renewable Energy Generation-Challenges and Opportunities”

Date:2020-01-09

In June 4th, 2018, Professor Eduard Muljadi's was invited by the IAS Wuhan Section to make a speech. He visited the laboratory of CAEMD and attended the 301st series lectures “Join hands with electrical elites, go ahead with future” (the 30th issue of the “high-end Motor Forum”). Prof. Muljadi gave academic lecture entitled “Renewable Energy Generation-Challenges and Opportunities” to teachers and students from SEEE in room no.224 of west-9 building of HUST. At first, prof. Muljadi introduced the nature and distribution of renewable energy, and reviewed the development and application of renewable energy in the past decades. Then he explained the difference between the traditional grid and the distributed grid in detail and the challenges faced by the new distributed micro grid. Finally, combining his rich research experience, he introduced the existing technologies and future research directions for the integration of renewable energy into the power grid.

Professor Eduard Muljadi's profile:

Eduard Muljadi received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. From 1988 to 1992, he served as a faculty member at California State University, Fresno. From 1992 to 2017, he worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. In January 2018, he joined Auburn University as a Distinguished Professor of James J. Danaher. His researches include electrical machines, power electronics, power systems and renewable energy. Dr. Muljadi is an honor member of the Eta Kappa Nu and Sigma Xi Society, and an IEEE Fellow, an editor of the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion. He is also a member of the specialized group under the IEEE Industrial Applications Society (IAS), the Power Electronics Society (PELS) and Power and Energy Society (PES). Dr. Muljadi is currently the Chairman of the Renewable Energy Devices and Systems Institute of the Electric Power and Energy Society. He now holds a number of patents on energy conversion in renewable energy.
